I stumbled across this Salisbury Steak recipe and although all my memories of Salisbury Steak have been grayish blocks of "meat" served in school cafeterias, this recipe looked too good to pass up:

My modified ingredients:
Steak:
2 pounds 90/10 ground beef
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
Gravy:
1 cup beef broth
1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a large bowl, mix the first 9 ingredients. Season generously so you don't just rely on the sauce for flavor! #Mastercheflessons |
Shape in 6 more or less oval patties. In a large skillet, brown the patties on both sides and place in a baking dish. |
Pour the mushrooms and liquid over the patties. Bake, uncovered, at 350º for 1/2 hour. Then revel in the non-school-cafeterianess of it all. |
Makes 6 servings, each serving totaling 351 calories, and 5 net carbs.
